This Privacy Policy explains how Giftwaves ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use giftwaves.fm and our services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account information: when you sign in (for example, with Google), we receive your name and email address.
Content you provide: the recipient details, stories, occasions, and preferences you enter to create a song. Some of this may be personal information about someone other than you (the person the song is for). If you provide details about another person, you are responsible for having the right to share them; you can ask us to correct or delete that information at any time (see "Your choices and rights"), and we handle it under this policy just as we handle your own.
Payment information: payments are handled by Stripe. We do not store your full card details; Stripe processes them under its own privacy terms.
Usage data: we use privacy-friendly product analytics (PostHog) to understand how the Service is used — pages visited, steps completed, and general device/browser information.

2. How we use your information

To create and deliver the songs you request. Giftwaves is an AI-powered service: the recipient details, stories, occasions, and preferences you enter are sent to third-party AI providers that generate the lyrics, music, and cover art on our behalf. These providers process that content only to produce your song and under their own terms.
To process payments and manage your account and subscriptions.
To operate, secure, and improve the Service.
To communicate with you about your songs, orders, or support requests.

3. How we share information

We share information only with the service providers that help us run Giftwaves — including our payment processor (Stripe), authentication provider (Google), AI generation providers, analytics (PostHog), and advertising partners (Meta) — and only as needed to deliver the Service. We may also disclose information if required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies, analytics, and advertising

We use a small amount of local storage and analytics events to keep you signed in and to measure how the Service performs. We also advertise Giftwaves on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram) and use the Meta Pixel and similar technologies to measure the performance of our ads, understand which ads lead to sign-ups or purchases, and show relevant ads to people who have visited the Service. This may involve sharing limited event data (such as page views or purchases) with Meta. You can manage ad personalization in your Meta account settings and clear this data in your browser at any time.

We also use a Meta feature called Advanced Matching. Alongside standard activity like page views, sign-ups, and purchases, this lets us send Meta certain identifying details you give us — most commonly your email address, and where available your name, phone number, or location — after they are hashed (converted into a scrambled, one-way code) in your browser. Meta uses this hashed data to more accurately match your activity to a Meta account and improve how our ads are measured, and it acts as an independent controller of what it receives. You can opt out in your Meta account settings, use a browser tool that blocks the Meta Pixel, or ask us to delete your data at any time.

5. Data retention

We keep your account information and the songs you create for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data.

6. Your choices and rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the date above.
